We decided to fly to our annual San Diego vacation again this year.
We had about 3 hours that night in the Salt Lake Airport, so we had dinner and played games
Garrett looked so cute walking through the airport with his backpack. He loved the moving walkways and believe me, you go over a lot of them when you are in the airport for 3 hours.
It was a super late flight, so I was glad that the boys fell asleep on the last flight without any complaining
We made it!!!
The next day, we headed to the fair. Wow, a little bit different than Montana fairs...so many more rides, activities, dancers, food, music, etc.
Bryant held a cockroach
Of all the animals that Garrett could see in San Diego (especially with the zoo), he said he wanted to see a cow. They got to practice milking a cow and the big smile on Bryant's face was because the cow just moo-ed!
Petting Zoo
Oh my goodness - our kids have always loved goats. Garrett thought they were just the absolute funniest thing he had seen.
Thumbs up for a great day at the fair!
And one worn out kid.
Once he woke up, it was time to celebrate Grandma Betty's birthday (virtually). The little kids...
...and the big kids!
Garrett and Madeline were best of buddies. Garrett said he wanted to sleep in the top bunk with her. He couldn't end up falling asleep up there, but they spent pretty much every waking hour together.
The next day (Father's Day), we headed to one of the newer parks in San Diego.
And the kids got to have a picnic outside.
And a movie.
The next day we headed to the Zoo.
The monkeys and apes are always so entertaining. There was a little baby close to the window that was right in front of the kids. He let off some screams...
...and all the males came and kept an eye on the kids
This monkey had to be the all time favorite though. He was so interactive with us. He was raising his eyebrows, tilting his head, gesturing with his hands, smiling...it was so funny!
This was Garrett's reaction to the monkey:)
We were going to try and stay there all day since we were going to be downtown for the baseball game that night, so after lunch, we thought we'd take advantage of the bus tour. These pictures were at the beginning of the bus ride. By the end Garrett had fallen asleep and Bryant was close to doing the same.
We decided that meant enough zoo for the day so we took a quick break at home before heading back for the baseball game. I just love the atmosphere in a baseball stadium - the food, music, and we got to see their star closer come out with flames shooting around the stadium and fireworks when they won!
Bryant was even flossing to try and get on the floss cam, which he never does.
Garrett trying on Daddy's new hat.
Playing at the school playground
Of course, Bryant wanted to play basketball!
And a perfect sized net for Garrett!
Then, off to the beach!
Poor Garrett fell asleep on the way.
Bryant loved the water. We went swimming at the house almost every night and he was jumping waves as soon as we got to the beach.
Garrett finally woke up and got in on some sand castle building.
It took Garrett a bit to want to even go near the water and then he found out how fun it could be. His giggles are too much!
It felt like a quick trip, but it was time to get on our early morning flight. We flew from San Diego to Las Vegas to Helena, so lots of flights for super sleepy kids. But they did good and got lots of sleep.
Thank you Heather, Brian, Madeline, and Olivia for always showing us such a great time in San Diego! We can't wait to do it again!
