Garrett had decided he wanted to play soccer now that he was old enough and Bryant originally said he didn't want to. When we pulled out Bryant's old cleats and shin guards for Garrett, I think Bryant got jealous. Either way, he decided he wanted to play, so we ordered him some cleats and shin guards. He was just as excited as Christmas morning when they came in the mail.
The boys had to go test them out to see how fast they were in their cleats.
We took several walks around the neighborhood kicking the soccer ball in anticipation for soccer season to start.
Practicing their drop kicks:
And we always have to make a little time for basketball (or at least hanging on the rim).
With the weather being nicer, the boys are all excited to do all the things they haven't been able to do all winter.
Poor little super hero is sick again.
Bryant wrote his first book report at school. They had to pick an animal to research, so naturally, Bryant picked wolf spiders??? I was so impressed. He had to cite his work and knew that you couldn't copy someone else's work.
Garrett was packing his lunch box. You never know when you might need a snack, walkie talkie, or a dinosaur.
Oops... better add applesauce in there too ;)
Windy days = kite flying fun!
And more basketball
This little guy was not happy about having to come inside...even for a bowl of ice cream!
Grandpa and Grandma Handl were back from their snowbird adventure and brought the boys some fun Cubs gear
We went to the Rock and Gem show in Helena, where Bryant got to look for rubies. This further peaked his interest in rocks, so much so that we joined the Rock Club. Bryant wanted to start going to the meetings and they also do fun field trips throughout the summer.
All that fun can sure wear a 3 year old out
When it is still not as warm out at night as you would like, you have indoor dance parties!
Soccer season started! We weren't sure how Garrett would do, but he showed up at practice and was kicking the ball around.
He did get a little nervous around all the other kids, but enjoyed the game of "Red Light, Green Light"
Bryant had his first practice too. We also weren't sure how he would do since the last time he was signed up for a sport, he never wanted to play in the game or practices. This year was TOTALLY different and so enjoyable for everyone!
We could actually goof around with Garrett while Bryant practiced.
And can't forget about basketball!
Then it was Easter weekend. Last year it snowed for our neighborhood Easter Egg Hunt, so the rain this year was much better!
Leading up to the hunt, Bryant said he was excited to get eggs, but he hates the group picture. I don't know why, but he always throws a fit and it is so hard to get him in the picture. I told him to just do it and be done with it, so when we showed up, he took his brother out there to get their picture taken - with no whining! Between soccer and the egg hunt, I felt like he totally grew up in front of my eyes!
Garrett had scoped out the egg he wanted before the race started, so when they said go, he knew he wanted the big basketball egg!
I didn't get any pictures of Bryant egg hunting because he ran off with his friend from class. They were so cute together!
Then we headed to Whitehall and the boys woke up the next morning to see that the Easter Bunny had visited!
Once again, Bryant was so fast hunting eggs that I hardly got any pictures.
But he gets so excited to find the golden egg...and I love Garrett's reactions too!
Garrett was upset because Bryant found two soccer ball eggs and he wanted one...
The boys were sure tuckered out that Garrett fell asleep on the way home
and Bryant fell asleep before he even got ready for bed.
Turns out Garrett was extra tired because he was sick again. Here's Garrett and Bella waiting to pick Bryant up from school.
Time for the first soccer games! I didn't get any goals on video, but Bryant scored 2
Garrett and Bryant played at the same time. And with Garrett missing practice earlier in the week from being sick, he didn't want to play in the game either, so we just watched Bryant play. Then we headed across the street to the YMCA for Family Days for some tomato plants and games.
The boys wanted to do some baking, so we made apple cinnamon muffins. Yum!
I was helping Bryant with his homework and took a break to help Garrett. I came back to find this...(I guess that's my future with 2 boys...)
Bryant still wants to be a vet when he grows up
but also added astronaut to the list
Bryant's drawing of our family walking the dogs (BeeDee and Bella) and the Easter Bunny came.
Watching the Vigilante Parade
More kite flying (from a fishing pole)
and more soccer games!
Garrett and Bryant played at the same time that week, so we had to split time between kids. I caught Garrett almost scoring a goal!
But missed the real thing. Dad saw it though and Garrett was so excited!
That's it for April - more soccer fun to come in May!
