CABINETS!!!

The cabinets were all installed by the time we made it out to the house. They crown molding still has to be installed, but they will do that when the do the rest of the trim. It looks amazing and we are so happy with how they all turned out. All the different depth cabinets turned out really great and I think once the crown molding is on, they will stand out even more. We are going to make the center island just a bit bigger, but here are the pictures for now...

Here are the laundry room cabinets and the top of the lockers for the entry way are sitting in there until we can finish the lockers.

Here are the locker style cabinets in the entry way from the garage. It is hard to describe how they look when they are finished, but we have to get countertops on the bottom cabinets before they will finish installing the rest of them.
The electrician will here the next Monday and it probably worked out best that he wasn't there yesterday with all the work being done on the cabinets.

Kitchen Tile and more

Over the weekend, we managed to get the remaining two tiles set and grouted. We cleaned the tile and sealed all the grout. We had to get it all finished by Monday as we are having our cabinets installed then. Having the cabinets installed will make it feel so much more finished. So, here are the before pictures...

The entry way where locker style cabinets will go.
Not only are the cabinets being installed Monday, but I believe the electrician might be there to start doing the final hookups too. I promised Trav's mom that I would post pictures tomorrow night, but that is not going to happen. We are going to go camping at the lake Monday night with friends, so hopefully I can post pictures Tuesday night.

Over the weekend, Travis and his dad were able to get farther on the rock work for the bar. The openings will have glass shelves and probably have copper in the back. The opening in the middle top is for a tv. Cabinets will go in front in the same shape as the bar.
The house is definitely looking great, but we are excited for a little relaxation break tomorrow night. Hopefully when we return we will have cabinets and be able to use our light switches and electrical outlets!

Rocking Out

We wanted to do a mock up of our trim before we ordered all of it. It was a good thing we did, because we changed our mind...I know, so unlike us to change our mind:) The original trim we picked was really nice, but would have fit better in a craftsman style house, not our "rustic contemporary" house. This picture, which doesn't show the trim very well, is similar to what we are going to go with. It is knotty alder that we want to try and stain a little lighter than our hardwood floors, which one of the pieces is sitting on the trim. We think having it a little bit lighter will really show the knots in the alder. Also, the tile underneath the window has been grouted, but still needs some cleaning.

On Travis' days off, he was able to finish the rock on the downstairs fireplace. We still have to put the slate around the actual fireplace, but the rock looks awesome!
